With a career spanning over 30 years as an executive in healthcare, Dr Dena van den Bergh is an authority in change making and innovation with experience on the hospital front lines to the boardroom, international conference stage, and beyond.
Dena has worked with South Africa's largest healthcare groups and funders in the public and private sectors and collaborated with global change leaders in large scale health systems improvement
Her Doctorate in Engineering from Warwick University gave her a love for systems thinking which she has integrated with her clinical expertise to create a unique approach to healthcare change leadership.
She now works independently with leaders, teams and organisations to successfully implement health systems improvement co-designed with stakeholders. Her goal is to empower accomplished and emerging leaders to thrive in their lives and careers and inspire them to make a powerful impact in shaping the future of health systems globally.
Dena is an industry leader in change leadership and implementation research as well as a passionate advocate for value-based care and addressing the gap of vital employee and public input into designing better health systems for all. She serves as an Honorary Research Associate at the University of Cape Town Infectious Disease Department and is a senior editor for JAC-AMR a leading medical journal. A world citizen at heart, Dena frequently collaborates internationally and presents and publishes her research at global level to constantly expand and exchange knowledge to better her own work.

Dr Dena van den Bergh is an inspiring change leader in healthcare. There is no project too big or too novel for her. Many projects were derailed by COVID-19 and it would have been an easy excuse to give up. Can I join the next one?
I fit Co-Lab Academy in-between my custom programs for bespoke clients so I cannot always predict when it will be offered again. Now is the best time to join and take the vital steps needed to manifest your dreams. There will never be more time. Use this opportunity to prioritise your “Project of Me” and make the amazing work you do work for YOU, your organisation and the people you want to serve.
What are the dates and times?
Your Co-Lab journey starts with attending the free 3 part Accelerator Webinar Series on 21st, 23rd and 25th of May at 15:00. If you miss any of these, they will be in the Co-Lab library to rewatch before we start the weekly Co-Lab Sessions which run from week of 3 June to 26 July 2043. Live call times are at 15:00 or later as determined based on the popular vote of Co-Labers once enrolled.
Can I get a certificate?
Yes! Co-Lab Academy for Healthcare Change leaders is a CPD certified program with the South African Medical Council. At the end of the programme, you will receive a certificate of completion and your details will be submitted to SAMC for CPD points to be awarded to your professional profile. International delegates and SA Pharmacy professionals can use your certificate and the ABOUT Co-Lab document to earn CPD credits.
How much of my time will it take?
I will teach you my method for making your project achievable alongside your normal work-commitments. We will meet weekly for 90 minutes for our group Co-Lab sessions and my expert mentor coaching. I recommend you put aside 30 minutes per day for actioning your project or you can do an hour every second day. Bottom line is small consistent steps can make a huge impact. The container has been carefully crafted for your success, so don't let TIME be the reason you hold back on upleveling where you are in your career and the impact you can make in healthcare.
